Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career as an TV reporter and radio reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News a year later. Since 1981 she started reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was appointed the top journalist for Congress. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared at times on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first reported on for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She reported on a number of noteworthy events including arms control, taxes on the budget, as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
